Cabo San Lucas Undergoes a Face lift

The face lift is to clean sewer networks, pipes, and potable water network of the main streets of Cabo San Lucas including Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas, Boulevard Marina, Miguel Hidalgo & Vicente Guerrero streets and Cabo San Lucas Avenue, among others, and optimize necessities for inhabitants of this tourist destination.

This will solve infrastructure issues Cabo San Lucas has like the unloading, pick up and re-pumping of residual waters of downtown Cabo San Lucas and contiguous areas of Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas y Paseo Marina (the marina boardwalk).

The work began in July 2008. This integrated project will benefit local residents and tourists visiting the destination and will improve road conditions. The project's timeframe is approximately nine months and will be performed in phases so as not to affect the daily rhythm of residents, tourists, and retailers in the downtown area.

This project has the following benefits:

• Substitution of potable water networks.
• Removal of the existing overhead electrical lines and the installation of an underground medium and low voltage network with submersible transformer and disconnection switches.
• Removal of all above ground telephone lines and installation of fiber optic lines.
• Substitution of asphalt road surfaces and sidewalks with concrete pavers.
• The installation of uniform, energy-efficient urban street lighting.
• Reconfiguration of bus stops, waste collection, and public rest areas.
• Installation of automated drip irrigation systems.
• Replanting of green spaces, boulevards, plazas, and garden areas with diverse vegetation to provide identity, urban image, and comfort.
• Improved signage and street nomenclature.
• An integrated traffic light system based on a transit engineering study, to be installed in sync with the overall project.
