Tropical Storm Lowell Coming to Cabo
It already has been a notable hurricane season for cruisers in the Caribbean, and now things are getting dicey for cruisers along Mexico's Pacific coast, too.
Carnival says the Carnival Elation, which departed San Diego Saturday on a five-day cruise, will skip today's port call in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to avoid the growing threat of Tropical Storm Lowell, which is churning off the Mexican coast.
As of 8 am ET Monday, Tropical Storm Lowell was about 280 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California and had sustained winds around 50 miles per hour. The National Hurricane Center's long-range projection calls for the storm to turn towards Baja California over the next few days.
