Sammy Hagar Still Rocking in Cabo
So word has it that Sammy Hagar, the famous rocker of Van Halen and 20% owner of Cabo Wabo, has formed a new band. He assembled an all star band consisting of guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Chad Smith, and bassist (Van Halen) Michael Anthony. Some might be wondering what happened to Eddie Van Halen, and it has been sometime that he and Sammy have been feuding and until they remedy their ways it will be sometime before you'll see Eddie at one of Sammy's jam sessions. The band's name is "Chickenfoot" and as Sammy Hagar says "To me that's 10 times Van Halen, because it's functional, we all like each other." Having compared it to Led Zeppelin, Sammy is eagerly waiting to start recording this September with his new band.
Sammy Hagar just recently sold 80% of his stakehold in the company, Cabo Wabo, to Campari for a reported $80 Million. At 60 years old, Sammy is not looking to at slowing down and still resides here in Cabo San Lucas. You can always see him here in October for sure for his free brithday bash at Cabo Wabo. And for those who are tequila drinkers try his premium brand of tequila, Cabo Wabo Tequila. It's a unique looking blue bottle that I have had the opportunity of trying. It's a pretty good tequila even though I am not much of a tequila lover. It has been said that even Michael Anthony of Van Halen has been turned onto tequila thanks in part to Cabo Wabo tequila. As they say in Mexico "Salud" (Cheers!) and Hasta la luego.
